One passenger-information platform for every screen at an international airport

An international airport was running gate, baggage and wayfinding screens on three separate legacy systems from different vendors. We replaced them with a single real-time passenger-information platform driven directly by the airport's operational flight data.

01 The challenge

Each vendor system was managed by a different team, updated on its own schedule and fed flight information at its own pace. When a gate changed, staff had to update several systems by hand, so screens across the terminal disagreed with each other and with the airline. Delayed or inconsistent information had become one of the airport's most frequent passenger complaints, and every new screen type meant another vendor contract.

02 What we did

  • Single signage platform for all gate, baggage-hall, security and wayfinding displays, replacing the three legacy systems
  • Direct integration with the airport operational database (AODB) so flight status, gate and belt assignments flow to screens automatically, without manual re-keying
  • Rules-based content: a gate change updates every screen that references that flight — gate, concourse directories, lounge boards — from one event
  • Central content management for advertising, alerts and emergency messaging alongside flight data
  • Screen health monitoring so operations know about a failed display before passengers do
  • Phased cut-over by terminal area with no downtime on live screens

03 The results

  • Flight information reaches every relevant screen in seconds rather than minutes
  • Gate changes propagate automatically, ending manual multi-system updates
  • Display operations consolidated into one team on one platform, with three vendor contracts retired
  • Measurable drop in passenger complaints about inaccurate information
