01 The challenge
Customer data sat in four disconnected systems: bookings, web analytics, email and customer service. Post-booking emails were one-size-fits-all and rarely clicked. The business could not tell which customers were likely to want a transfer versus an excursion, or when in the countdown to departure they were most likely to buy.
02 What we did
- Customer data platform merging booking, web, email and service history into one profile
- Recommendation models scoring each customer's likelihood to buy each ancillary, and the best timing before departure
- Marketing automation driving personalised email, app and web offers from those scores
- Experimentation framework to test offers and timing against control groups
- Dashboards for revenue by ancillary, channel and segment
03 The results
- Ancillary attachment rate more than doubled within the first year
- Email click-through rates rose several-fold
- Seven-figure additional upsell revenue in year one
- Transfer attachment in particular rose sharply
