AI-assisted recruitment platform for a large retailer

A retailer hiring thousands of people a year across more than a hundred sites was drowning in CVs. We built an AI-assisted recruitment platform that screens, ranks and schedules — so hiring managers spend their time interviewing, not sorting.

01 The challenge

Store managers were spending hours per vacancy reading CVs in a legacy applicant-tracking system. Time-to-hire stretched to weeks, and during peak trading the backlog of open roles ran into the hundreds, directly costing sales. Candidate quality was inconsistent and good applicants dropped out while waiting.

02 What we did

  • Structured job profiles per role with the criteria that actually predict success in store
  • AI screening and ranking of applications against those criteria, with explanations a manager can check and override
  • Automated candidate communication and interview scheduling integrated with managers' calendars
  • Bias monitoring and audit trail on every recommendation
  • Integration with the existing ATS and HR system so offers and onboarding continue unchanged

03 The results

  • Time-to-hire cut from weeks to under a fortnight
  • Hours per vacancy spent on CV review reduced to a fraction
  • Higher-quality shortlists as rated by hiring managers
  • Peak-season vacancy backlog eliminated; cost per hire down

Sendtra: home-to-school transport management and a driver app for a UK local council

Councils run hundreds of daily home-to-school journeys for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Sendtra gives the transport office one place to plan routes, allocate drivers and passenger assistants, and see every journey happening — with a driver app that replaces paper run sheets.
