01 The challenge
Every promotional change meant print runs, logistics to hundreds of stores and staff time putting posters up — typically two weeks from sign-off to the last store, at a substantial annual cost. Pricing errors between the poster and the till were common, and the board had approved a move to digital but had no in-house capability to specify, deploy or run a network at that scale.
02 What we did
- Network design: commercial displays for aisle ends, entrance, checkout and deli/butchery counters, with media players sized for each store format
- Central content-management platform with store, region and national scheduling, day-parting and template-based promotions that non-designers can build
- EPOS price integration so displayed prices are always the price at the till
- Remote monitoring of every screen and player, with automatic alerts and recovery
- Phased installation across the estate, outside trading hours, with a pilot region used to refine the playbook before national rollout
03 The results
- Thousands of screens live across the whole store estate within the year
- Campaign go-live time cut from weeks to under an hour
- Print and distribution costs for promotions largely eliminated
- Uplift on promoted lines measured against control stores
